Ostium is a perpetuals trading protocol on Arbitrum offering leveraged markets on real-world assets such as FX, commodities, indices and stocks alongside crypto. Trades settle against a shared liquidity layer combining a Liquidity Buffer with the Market Making Vault: liquidity providers deposit USDC into the vault and receive OLP tokens representing their share. The Liquidity Buffer, funded by accrued trader losses, settles trader profit first, while the Market Making Vault acts as direct counterparty to net trader profit and loss only when the buffer is depleted. Its documentation describes OLP earning a share of opening fees, plus rollover fees and liquidation rewards in undercollateralised states, compounding into the vault share price.
