About poundtoken
Poundtoken (GBPT) was a British Pound-backed stablecoin pegged 1:1 to GBP. It is fully backed by Sterling reserves held in UK bank accounts. The issuer is regulated by the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority. In 2024, GBPT was rebranded to 1GBP.
Poundtoken was the first regulated GBP stablecoin issuer in the British Isles, holding a Money Transmission Services Licence from the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority. The token is fully backed by Sterling reserves and audited by KPMG. In 2024, the project was rebranded from GBPT to 1GBP.
The original GBPT token was deployed on Ethereum. The rebrand introduced a new 1GBP token contract.
