TerraUSD (UST) was an algorithmic stablecoin on the Terra blockchain pegged to USD via LUNA burns and mints. It suffered a catastrophic collapse in May 2022, losing its peg entirely. The UST/LUNA collapse wiped out approximately $40 billion in value.
