About Blast USDB
USDB is the native rebasing stablecoin of the Blast L2 network. It automatically earns yield from T-bill rates through MakerDAO's DSR. USDB is redeemable 1:1 for DAI on Ethereum mainnet and is the default stablecoin within the Blast ecosystem.
USDB is the native rebasing stablecoin of the Blast Layer 2 network, an Ethereum L2 backed by Paradigm. When users bridge stablecoins (USDC, USDT, DAI) to Blast, they receive USDB — an auto-rebasing token that automatically accumulates yield without any manual action by the holder.
Mechanism
USDB yield originates from MakerDAO's Dai Savings Rate (DSR) contract, which itself invests in on-chain T-Bill protocols. Deposited stablecoins are routed into the DSR, and the generated yield is automatically distributed to USDB holders by rebasing the token's balance upward over time. This mirrors the interest-on-maturity mechanism of traditional Treasury Bills but delivered on-chain in real time.
USDB is redeemable 1:1 for DAI on Ethereum mainnet when bridging back. The Blast community retains governance rights to supplement or replace MakerDAO with alternative yield sources in the future, such as Blast-native protocols.
